I'm up early and out by the pool before the sun creeps over the mountain to update this blog... as usual. I can see a morning trend developing here...!!! I’m first here again, apart from all the swallows dipping into the pool to get their water. I really could get used to this way of starting my days! For the first time I’m finished before Elaine comes to find me, and she’s still asleep when I return to the room. She’s up and out of bed in a flash, and croissants for breakfast is the order of the day, with a nice cuppa too.

Now, I thought last night that I’d go for a walk around the coast to the next beach nice and early today. But instead of nice and early, I set off at ten to ten... too late... no... it's actually far too late heat wise, but what do I know. The walk along the beach and the rocks was more difficult than I’d thought it would be, though worth it to see all the fish and crabs in the rock pools along the way. When I get to where I was heading, Kaminia Beach, there wasn't that much to see and my only way back was either the way I'd just struggled along or up the steep track to the main road, then follow that back to Katelios. I don't fancy the coast so decide on the road. Big mistake at around twelve o’clock when the sun was at its highest and hottest, I reckon it was over forty degrees, so lots of stops in the bits of shade I could find on the way up. Certainly needed a longer breather when I finally reached the main road; my cola was now near to boiling but had never tasted so good...!!! The walk back along the main road was much easier as it was pretty much downhill all the way, and I was able to take the short cut up to the back of Eryphilli once I got back into Katelios. The girls were a bit shocked when I finally got back to them, as I was straight into the pool to cool off; and they just had to photograph it in case it never happened again. Drinks all round when I got out after which Elise went back to her room, after actually sunbathing as she’d promised to do the night before. We also went back to our room to enjoy the delights of our more than efficient air conditioning for half an hour or so... hmmm...!!! Then it was back to the relentless sunshine to catch a few more rays before the evening BBQ Special here tonight.

The sun again is relentless this afternoon, as is our pursuit of the perfect tan, it must be in the high 30's; but you'll hear no complaints from us about it. As the afternoon slips into the evening we head back to our room to freshen up, and more importantly, cool down in the icy cool of the air conditioning. Just as we sat down in the bar area Nikos announced that the BBQ was ready over in the open air restaurant. We get a large Greek Salad to start, followed by the BBQ itself, a combo of Butterfly Chicken Breast, Lamb Chop, Village Sausage, Pork Kebabs & Greek Style Potatoes... yum, yum...!!! This was followed by a sizeable portion of tasty Greek Strawberry Cake. Now this meal came with a half litre of table wine between two, which of course in our case became a half litre of table wine between one...!!! I settled for the healthy option of some fresh orange juice. Now I find it most strange how quickly people come to understand Elaine's drinking habits. A couple of tables away from us there was a couple sitting with their grandchildren and they'd only had one small glass of wine from their allotted half litre; and out of all the people at this BBQ the lady trotted over to our table and gave the nearly full carafé to us - well Elaine actually... funny that...!!!

After the meal most of us regrouped at the pool bar, where we chatted to the couple that were in the room next to ours while Elaine polished off her gifted wine, you have to understand that she just hates to see good wine going to waste. Now it wasn't too long before the wine was finished, but the night wasn't; so asked if Elaine would like another drink... "Yes please darling, a nice glass of wine please!" Maybe it was because I took the empty carafé back to the bar with me when ordering our drinks that Nikos assumed I wanted another carafé and not just the glass I'd actually asked for, seems he had also sussed her out in a relatively short time...!!! Needless to say the wine was not wasted, however Elaine pretty much was when we eventually returned to our room for the night...!!!

Shaun it's brilliant here mate. Katelios is quite small, pretty quiet, the beach is quiet, the water is shallow for a long way out (good snorkelling), most of the tavernas are quite cheap and with very nice food, and best of all the weather is amazing... nonstop sunshine with the temperatures up in the high 30's/low 40's every day so far; and it's supposed to be even hotter next week...!!!!
