However, thirteen of us did make it in the end, although not all of us were here for the full two weeks. Myself, Elaine & Elise; Shaun, Anne, Faye & Daisy and Anni enjoyed the full two weeks, while Rob & Mandy came out on the Monday after and returned on the Friday before us. Margaret, Haley & Tom stayed at a hotel and also arrived two days later, with the young lovers returning on the Thursday before us and Margaret on the Friday.
As not everybody wanted, or were able, to do exactly the same things in such a big group we'd often all meet up to visit the attractions together, while on other days some of us would do our own thing, an arrangement that seemed to work perfectly for all concerned. The weather was very kind to us, with glorious sunshine every day, even if a few of them were a little chilly early on. Hurricane Sandy threatened to spoil things, which she sadly did across Haiti, Jamaica, The Bahamas and the Dominican Republic before missing us and veering north towards the upper half of the eastern seaboard. We were extremely fortunate to only have some occasional strong winds on our first couple of days.
So we did it all and more on this vacation, starting off with the amazing manatee swim on our first day and then systematically hitting the various and varied attraction parks across Orlando during the following two weeks. We also enjoyed far too much American cuisine at far too many of the restaurants here. Thank you Orlando for yet another wonderful holiday in the Sunshine State of Florida, and thank you to all family members for making this such a fun filled memorable time.
It saddened us all that, while we were fortunate to have had an unspoilt holiday, people in the path of devastation created by Hurricane Sandy were losing their homes and livelihood with many also losing their lives, our hearts go out to all families affected by this horror of nature.
