After our top-up at Sizzler we rushed of to the park and just missed rope drop by minutes. On arrival we headed straight for "Expedition Everest", but it wasn't running, so we got a fast pass to use later in the day
. So we headed for "Kilimanjaro Safaris Expedition" instead, to traverse the rugged African savanna, and we saw hippos, giraffes, waterbuck, eland, elephants with calf, black rhino also with calf, ostriches, lions & zebra amoung other things. We went back to "Expedition Everest" after our safari and passed Elaine's favourite park attraction (not!), "DeVine", a lady camouflaged as tree vines who moves very slowly on stilts and spreads herself across walls and trees to blend in and become almost invisible. We can't get Elaine anywhere near DeVine, and in 2007 she was seen rushing away when we suddenly came across her! Everest was running by the time we got there and we were straight on it with our passes, and then rushed round as soon as we got off to go on again straight away as the queue was only 10 minutes long. The 'coaster queen loved it this year with no whoopin' or hollerin' like we had in 2007. After the excitement of escaping the yeti, we chilled a bit while watching the old favourite, "It's Tough to be a Bug" in the Tree of Life Theater, hosted by Flik from It's a Bug's Life. We opted for more relaxation after this by watching "The Festival of the Lion King" show in Camp Minnie-Mickey.
As we wandered through Asia after the show we passed some dancers doing a non-stop "Gangnam Style" dance, with the DJ playing Psy on a loop... and it was packed out with lots of kids and adults joining in...!!
! Is nowhere in the world free of this song...??? Next we went on the "Maharajah Jungle Trek" together before separating, as I wanted to do the "Pangani Forest Exploration Trail", while the girls wanted to ride "Expedition Everest" again. Six times they went round that mountain ride before I got back to them...!!! Our last area of the day was Dinoland where we rode "Primeval Whirl" and finally "DINOSAUR", in which you travel back in time to capture a mild-mannered Iguanadon while evading the jaws of the hungry Carnotaurus...!!!
The deep rumbling we were now hearing wasn't distant dinosaurs, but our stomachs screaming for food... so we answered that call in the nearby Restaurantosaurus just as the park was closing. This is a huge restaurant and there were only us and another two families in the whole place! So, a full day again... we certainly do like to get our dollars worth. We got back to the villa just minutes after Rob & Mandy, with the Mastersons rolling in about half an hour later. So we all enjoyed a relaxing couple of hours together, after our various days out, of snackin' and chattin' before we drifted off to our beds.
Not having to get up too early this morning was quite a nice start to the day for us all, and there's two different destinations for us holiday makers today. The rest of our group are going to Islands of Adventure, because they only did parts of it last time and would like to do the bits of the park that they missed out on. While we're going to visit Animal Kingdom instead because we did all of "IoA" last Monday. We're also leaving at different times for breakfast, with them hitting the road first to the iHop Restaurant by Lake Buena Vista, and us off to Sizzler on the 192. And it's a bit chilly this morning, definitely a fleece required, to start with at least!
