It's soon time to go, but Tom has got a little lost trying to find the villa so we wait for him while the others set off. Only a couple of minutes later he's here and we also hit the road to Tampa. Interesting trying to get four adults into the Mustang, especially as Tom is quite tall and screwed up a bit in the front with the girls equally uncomfortable in the back. That's the best bit of being the driver in this situation, I was nice and comfy thank you...!!! A little over an hour later and we're rolling up to the iHop Restaurant (International House of Pancakes) opposite Busch Gardens
Once we've all had our fill it's off to the park, and we're some of the first people to get in at rope drop. It's quite cold this morning, so before the fun begins we needed to buy a fleece for Elise as she only had a thin cardigan on. That done, where to start then?... "Cheetah Hunt", that's where... this is the newest ride here with a trio of launches at speeds of 60mph to simulate a cheetah hunting it's prey... wow...!!! Next was the 140ft high "Montu" with it's seven intenense inversions. This was followed by the now floorless "SheiKra", the ferocious dive coaster that climbs 200ft to the edge of a pure 90 degree drop, holds you hanging over that edge and then drops you at 70mph, followed by a second drop of 137ft straight down into a hole in the ground... wow again...!!! I dodged the next two rides of "Stanley Falls Flume" and "Tanganyika Tidal Wave" as I don't get on well with water stuff. Easiest ride of the day was "U-Banga Banga Bumper Cars", same as you'd get in any fairground. "Kumba" was the last of our intense 'coasters, with it's 135ft drop followed by a plunge of 110ft into a diving loop..
By now it was well past three o'clock and our bellies were rumbling a little... so it was off to the Zambia Smokehouse to try their speciality dish, Smokehouse Sampler, a combo of chicken, brisket and ribs with fries and a roll.. and it was huge, we all struggled to clear our plates with this one...!!! Time was running out now so we split up to do different things. Elaine and I opted to watch the "Iceploration" ice show and rode the "Serengeti Express" with some of the group to get to the right section of the park. The show was really good with live animals making cameo appearances throughout the extravaganza. After it finished there was only half an hour left before the park closed, so Elaine & Elise dashed off to have two last rides on "Montu", while I went round to find the hippo enclosure. Their lake has viewing windows, and it is great watching them cruising up and down in their underwater world.
We all met up (on time) as arranged at the exit just as the park was closing, so we certainly got our moneys worth today. The girls sensibly opted to travel back with Rob & Mandy rather than be cramped up in the back of the Mustang again, this also made the journey much better for Tom as he could now push the seat right back and not be wedged up against the dash board as he was this morning...!!! As we had a huge late lunch, we don't need a big dinner tonight, so just pick at the snacks we have at the villa.
