There would be lots of driving for us today, so we didn't rush out of bed, and were out of the hotel with only a few seconds to spare before the kick out time of ten o’clock. From here we headed for the culinary delights of McDonald’s for breakfast. After filling our tanks we hit the road and were aiming for the town of Armidale, which was about half way to our destination of Ocean Shores. It was nice sunny weather today, which made the driving a bit more enjoyable and the changing scenery even more beautiful. After a couple of hours of pretty much non stop driving it was coming up to lunch time so we pulled off the highway at Tamworth to see what we could find. After a short look around the town we settled on some suitable tucker in a food hall there in the shopping mall. Now unfortunately for you guys back home, Elaine & Elise have tweaked a jingle they heard on radio here for McDonalds. The advert, for McD's "Angus the Third Burger", has the line "it's the hot new taste... and it's a little bit fancy", and seeing as Tamworth is the country & western capital of Australia, they thought it was funny to say "it's a little bit country" instead, and this happened every time they heard some country & western on the radio!!! You had to be there...???
We're still amazed at how few other vehicles there are on the roads here, this is the main highway through this part of NSW and we drove for over ninety minutes today before coming across another car on our side of the road and precious few coming the other way. This makes for very relaxed driving... I love it!
Back on the road again and by half past three we had reached Armidale. Although it was a Saturday afternoon it  resembled a ghost town, there were a couple of cars parked up but not a single person to be seen anywhere and just one huge lorry waiting at the main traffic lights, so we opted to drive on a bit further to reduce tomorrow's journey. An hour or so later we rolled into the little town of Ebor and Elaine noticed a sign for a waterfall there. We parked up by the picnic area there and walked through the woods to checked it out and it most certainly didn't disappoint, absolutely magnificent, especially as the sun was going down by now and shining straight on to both levels of the falls... fantastic! We got back onto the road and just five hundred metres further along we came across the Ebor Falls Hotel/Motel, which Elaine immediately said would do fine before even going in. A bit strange I thought, and still wonder if the fact there was a bar attached had anything to do with this swift decision or not...!!! Anyway, I checked the room out and it was fine, though it turned out to be quite a cold one. We decided it would be convenient to have dinner here, which just happened to be served in the bar area...!!! Elaine was served up the biggest mixed grill you’ve ever seen, and somehow managed to finish it... that's my girl...!!!
