What I did
In the morning we went 'walking with the lions'. We were able to get up close and personal with two 'teenage' (18 months old) lions - a male and female. It is somewhat distressing to learn that lion numbers are declining and this company is dedicated to the conservation of these beautiful animals. At no time did we feel threatened and as long as we didn't turn our back to them, we would stay safe.
One of the highlights of the African trip was our 'Flight Of The Angels', a helicopter ride over the falls. It was such a thrill to see the cataracts from above and a 'must do' for anyone visiting Victoria Falls.
We explored the stately and posh Victoria Falls Hotel, which is adjacent to our hotel. Tradition would have us take high tea, but due to the heat - 38 degrees Celsius - we opted for a cool refreshing local beer, a Zambezi. All very civilised!
Late afternoon saw us take a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. How relaxing it was to enjoy nibbles and drinks as we glided along the glassy waters of the upper Zambezi. We were lucky enough to see a variety of water birds, elephants having a swim, hungry hippos and crocodiles lazing on the shore. The evening was capped off with a very nice, though not spectacular, sunset.
