Our morning game drive was very successful, spying several herd of elephant, giraffes and zebra, and encountering numerous birds. How thrilling to see them up close and personal! We planned our trip to coincide with the annual wildebeest migration when thousands of wildebeest head from the Masai Mara to the Serengeti in October and November. Although many had already left the Masai Mara, it was a thrill to see some of the tail end group gathering to ready themselves for the journey.
We visited a Masai village which was a colourful spectacle, staged for us tourists
The afternoon wore on and we went on a (not all that successful at first) leopard hunt! Then, all of a sudden our driver got a message on his radio, and we high-tailed it across the Mara to a place were a leopard had been sighted. All the safari vehicles converged, and we watched - and waited - and waited. Then, just as we were ready to give up, a female leopard emerged from the bushes and walked across the road right in the middle of all the assembled vehicles. Rewarded, our cameras clicked!
