On our way to a one-day cricket match against Bexley, we stopped in to look around & thru Bodiam Castle (built 1385), a late medieval, moated style, located on border between Kent & Sussex. It is one of Britains most famous castles.

We were told by locals that Hollywood is endeavouring to negotiate with the National Trust to film another version of Robin Hood using parts of the castle (already done some decades back apparently).

Upon entry, we were able to watch an intro video presentation in a small enclave under one corner of the castle structure. Armed with a little history, we then set off at our own pace to explore.....absolutely beautiful views of surrounding Rother Valley can be enjoyed from the battlements and ramparts.

Amazingly small spiral staircases lead the way upwards...great space-savers, but I can imagine many a tumble down these in the castle's hey-day!

Well worth a visit if you're in SE of UK.
