every day I feel more and more at home in this town. but that also means that each day I'm getting closer to leaving here for Christchurch. I've been running over scenerios in my head about what to do *after* the show in Christchurch.. and there's nothing definitive yet, just more options then I'd anticipated. I am going to want to start working for money sometime in later November or early December, just for a few weeks so that I can feel like money won't be a problem anytime soon. so far, so good.. but again, groceries and necessities kind of take control of my bank account and it's beginning to be noticeable.
the good and bad thing about being stationary at a hostel for a while is that you see so many different, interesting people come and go. late last week, some of my new favourites came back to the Green Monkey, and then left again for good. so that made the weekend more worthwhile, but also gave me the travel itch again. I'm glad to be able to have gotten to know Nelson as well as I have.. but I can't wait to see more. and I really wish I just could've up and left with those friends - even if they were going back to the North Island.

aside from that, day-to-day life is pretty laid back. the art festival here is done now, and so the city should be quieting back down again for a while. the weather's been getting a bit warmer, and a bit warmer.. so I have faith that one day very soon I'll wake up and it'll be summer. oh summer. how I've missed you. haha sorry guys back home, but I really am excited to have my birthday in summer this year. you can't take away that joy from me
about a week ago, Mom booked our Christmas bach for the time she and Ian are here (2 months away!!). we're staying in the Coromandel, at a house in.. Taikeri? .. Tahanui? I'll have to look that up again. wherever it is, it's a couple hours from Auckland one way, and another few from Tauranga the other. SO. as for where I am going to be on actual Christmas Day (since Mom and Ian get here on the 28th).. who knows. I'm open to suggestion and whatever comes my way between now and then. (a million dollars to fly home and back for Christmas Day? SURE!! send it my way!)
and I should probably not have unscheduled time on my hands here. since I've seen most of the city itself, I've taken to climbing random tall hills in the area and having dance parties. ... no, really. this is what I did yesterday morning. not intentionally, but that's what came of my hike. this might be proof that when you travel by yourself, you actually stop giving a shit what other people think of you. although, I will say that after the hour I was up there dancing around to my music, I was pretty close to being humiliated when I started walking back down and a pack of bikers just made their way up to the top. so... they missed out, and I missed having to act like I was just running away from bees, or something.
