Okey so we have flown to Cairns from Darwin and the weather is much more copable over here as there is some breeze now instead of blazing heat. Cairns again has an american feel to it and hardly any high rise buildings. Its also the party town of the north and there are loads of bars etc with deals for backpackers..unfortunately none of these cater to the music we like to if you like dance, r 'n'b etc this place is for you!! We had a failry ok room in a hostel not far out of the centre. Here we made the decision not to visit the Barrier Reef due to the over priced tours and our lack of cash. we hope to return one day to see the reef in all its glory. We also bought a new camera here....Craig and I are thinking of taking up a photography course when we get back. Cairns was also where we decided to rent a campervan to travel down the east coast.
The decision was difficult as we wanted to get a cool Wicked camper but the price was double that of a hippie camper so we opted for the budget ( less cool) version...as Craig said i hope we dont get a girlie one ( my feelings also) We ended up getting a white van with purple flowers and yellow butterflys on...she also has purple units in the back.
Cairns is a really nice area for exploring the barrier reef but it kind of relies upon that to draw in tourists. The pier was really nice where we watched a man fish for crabs, but this is were our driving trip began and we headed south..........to be continued
