We flew from Christchurch to Auckland, somehow this took almost all day and so there is little to report.  We didn't bother going into Auckland, since we wanted to see the natural wonders of the island as apposed to the cities here.  If we have time in the end of the 7 days here, we'll see Wellington.

We headed south a couple of hours and then tried to find a place to crash for the night.  We must have been traveling in non-touristy area, since there were no hotels.  We ended up finally finding a Bed and Breakfast before dark.  This was our first try at a B&B in NZ.  We have been sticking to modern hotels since we have needed internet connectivity most days.  The owners of the B&B were wonderful, they had been sheep and cow farmers and were retiring into the B&B business.  We chatted with them for at least an hour about NZ, politics, the recession, and farming life.  We're really glad we stayed there, since it was nice to get some real conversions going with people who have lived off the land and what they have to say about agro-business and how NZ works.
