We arrived at marina Dunes and was shocked to find grey skies and chilly winds as we thought it would be warmer. Donning our Fleeces and coats we scrambled over the dunes and spent the day stocking up on groceries for the 'van' in picturesque old Town Monterey - the former mexican capital of California until it became America inthe 1850s and it's capital moverd to Sacramento.

Today we spent the day in the famous Cannery Row ( John Steinbeck) spotting pelicans flying to catch fish in the ocean, huge maroon and orange starfish clinging to rocks and then a huge colony of 100s of brown velvety seals basking spitting and barking covering the rocks on the beach and wharf where we parked our RV.

Jemima kept squealing at them as the smell of them was very pungent, pressing cardboard to her nose to block out the smoky elephanty fishy smell 'too stinky' said Jim! Tomorrow we are off to Carmel and I wonder if we see their famous tall mayor ( Clint Eastwood) ...

More to follow and Harry and Tilda will write their favourite and least favourite things - you already know Jim's least favourite .....
