We left Vancouver travelled by ferry and then drove 200 km drive through dense evergreen forests and over snow capped mountains to reach the Tofino, in the Pacific Rim National Park.
The ferry ride from Horseshoe bay to Nanaimo was in dense fog so we had glimpses of the coastline accompanied by the booming fog horn as we crossed the sea.It was great to be out of the city and heading out into the wilderness. The roads were quite and clear and once on the island the 200k to Tofino only took 3 hours through Parksville, Port Albeni and Ucluelet.
What an incredible place the Pacific Rim Park is. Truly beautiful and wild. It has vast empty windswept beaches, lots of tiny wooded islands and is encircled by several different ranges of mountains, sometimes all in the same view. The ocean, temperate rainforests and sunsets are breathtaking and not quite believable.
PICTURES TO FOLLOW SOON!!
Tomorrow we head back to Vancouver and then on saturday farewell to Canada and fly to San Francisco USA.
