We have a shop in north Bali, about 4 hour drive from Sanur. It's located in a national park called the Menjangan and it is far removed from civilization. I've heard amazing things about the diving here, and I was fortunate that work sent me here for 10 days this week with my coworker S.

The Menjangan is a 5-star, luxury resort. There are only twenty-something jungle and beach villas and you have to get around the property in a safari-bus. There are water activities like kayaking, snorkeling and diving, and spa treatments on the beach, bird watching and horseback riding. It's a beautiful resort located in the middle of a jungle and there are deers, monkeys and other creatures that you would expect in this environment (gekkos, snakes, scorpions, mice, frogs etc.). Some are pleasant to see but others, not so much :-P
In the morning around 6am, I hear birds chirping and other noises of creatures that I have no clue what they are...not sure if I want to know either...

I dived twice and I must say, they have the most beautiful reef I have ever seen. I guess it makes a difference to be protected as a national park. The corals are stunning. They are not chipped or broken off like they are in southern Bali. And there is abundance of corals. Just beautiful.

Why am I so shocked to see deer out there? Seems so foreign of a place for them. What a lovely treasure it is to continue following your journey, Masami...
