They went diving with me the last 2 days, and I got to show them mantas! They had never seen one before, and we saw 6. It was awesome sharing an experience of swimming with those magnificent animals ;)
It has also been a good distraction to have them around, from the terrible news of Japanese divers who went missing off of Bali. It's been particularly shocking and sad for me because we go diving at the same dive site and I've been there many times myself. It just really hit close to home and I've been devastated with the news that one woman was found dead last night.
So it's been nice, to be with friends and take my mind off of the news.
Today I was given a day off so I joined Fon and her BF on their tour of Ubud
I've been living in Bali for over 2 months but I haven't taken the time to explore/enjoy the island since I started working. So I became a tourist for my day off, grabbed my camera and headed out for a day of adventure :)))
We hired a driver who took us into the mountains and stopped at some Hindu temples, street-side fruit stands, art stores, coffee plantation and rice terraces. I also tried poop coffee for the first time! They feed mongoose (raccoon looking animal) with coffee bean fruit, and process the pooped beans for a better milder coffee. It's ridiculously expensive, because so much more time and labor go into making this unique type of coffee. It was an interesting experience to say the least. Not sure if the price justifies the taste though...
The pictures never really do justice to the stunning scenery in reality but I hope you can get a glimpse of why I love Bali so much <3
