I hadn't seen most of my extended family for 4 years and some, even longer. It was so great to connect with them again. And after traveling solo for so long, it was also a relief to be surrounded with family, be in a familiar country, eat a ton of comfort food, and have a "home."
I leave Japan with a bit of sadness.
Sitting here and reflection on this journey, it's really hard to fathom how 8 months have passed since I left my "old life" behind. I've been homeless and jobless for longer than I intended. When I left NYC, I left my future completely open. I had no idea where the trip will lead me to, who I will meet, what I will discover, or who I will become
I'm heading to Phuket, to scope out the town for my scuba diving instructor course. Having been on this trip and realizing that time is just too precious to waste, I am pursuing the only thing that makes me happy at the moment - scuba diving. Being on the beach, diving the world's oceans and exploring marine life...and sharing that excitement with others - there is nothing else I want to do with my life right now. So, it is what's next!
This will be my third trip to Thailand :). Looking forward to some papaya salad and mango sticky rice!!
