I have been in Tokyo for the last couple of weeks, mainly spending time with family and stuffing myself silly with Japanese cuisine :D
I have not seen most of my extended family in over 4 years so it has been so nice seeing them.
I'm also reunited with my father, brother and sister-in-law from the States who I hadn't seen in almost a year. I met my second cousin for the first time. We attended a family event where we got to introduce my brother's wife to our extended Japanese family.
You can say I've kept myself quite busy in Tokyo ;)))

I also had a special reunion with a friend from HS (where I attended in Florida) from 19 years ago! Since graduating, he has moved to Tokyo, married a Japanese girl and had 4 kids. We had stay connected over FB and met up last week for some drinks. Wow, 19 years! That is almost half a lifetime ago! It was really great seeing an old friend.
Tomorrow, I am meeting Teru - a guy I met in Okinawa. We are going to an amusement park for some roller coasters ;-). Should be fun!

Somehow, for being one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, Japan has proved to be the most difficult for accessing wifi. I couldn't log on, even in Starbucks. In all the countries I visited, I could easily walk into a corner store and buy various SIM cards and/or buy minutes. Here, noooooooo. I managed to find one type of SIM, only for 3G access for 30 days- and it cost $35 for up to 1G! It doesn't even come with phone call access! Ridiculous.
I paid $12 in Indo for 2G usage.
And I don't understand the inaccessibility to wifi at all. So foreigner-not-friendly!

But these frustrations have been compensated by the amazing food I have been eating everyday :D. Japanese food is just the BEST. Their cuisine is so healthy. When I am at my relative's home, we eat rice, grilled fish, tofu, and countless vegetable dishes for breakfast! No sugary cereals.
I've also enjoyed having access to a kitchen for the first time in months!!! I've been able to make my own coffee. Keep things in a refrigerator. Make meals.
Oh it's nice to have a home again!

That's so weird about wi-fi. I had problems with it in Rome, but only because it was sooooo slow. There is nothing like NY :-).
I'm glad you saw your family. And that food doesn't look yummy at all ;p
