I also have been craving some properly brewed coffee. The only kind that are available here are instant coffee or Balinese coffee, which is muddy at the bottom. I have been starting to miss Starbucks, even though I disliked Starbucks at home!!
Since everything on Lembongan is imported, the prices are also inflated. In addition to the inflated prices, we get charged the "tourist price" which is more than what the locals pay. This isn't always the case, but I know that gas costs $1.5 for locals but $2 for tourists
So today Jo and I headed to Bali with a shopping list and an appetite for something new!! We were tired of the same menu on Lembongan.
We took the first ferry out at 8am. As soon as we stepped off the boat, we headed straight to Starbucks. I ordered a grande Latte and I was as happiest as can be!! I took every sip with a huge smile. Oh the little things that can light me up these days ;)
Then we went to a restaurant to have breakfast. I ordered a stacked hash brown, salad, bacon, and poached egg on a toasted baguette. Can we say HEAVEN! It cost a fortune at $7 but it was worth every penny. A splurge is necessary every now and then :)
We then ran a few errands, shopping for toiletries, office supplies for Jo, and stocking up on groceries. We went to a huge grocery store and we were going down each aisle like we had never been in a grocery store. We were SO excited to have choices!! We packed our backpacks with new supplies and headed home.
It was nice to get off the island for a day and return to civilization :)
Back to work tomorrow!
