We tried the thresher shark dive again since our first attempt was not very good. We were in luck! We were able to have close encounters with about 4 threshers and WOW. What an adrenalin rush that was!! Absolutely amazing.
Then we did 2 additional dives at Gato Island, where we were told we may have White-tip shark sightings. Cool! The island has a cave you can swim through with a flashlight. As we swam through the cave, there was a pocket of space where we saw 2 white-tips swimming in circles!!! I must admit, it was a bit scary. The shark was swimming within 10 meters!
Later we saw a few more - we were definitely lucky - 9 shark sightings all in a day's dive!
Not to mention I saw a biggest sea horse to date (about 6 inches), 2 silver/black sea snakes, a flat worm and so many more amazing creatures I don't know the names for!
We met some awesome people on the dive boat. This older man Stephen from UK told me he travelled from UK to Singapore ON LAND. I said "Whaaaat?!? How?!?" I thought I misunderstood. No, he meant it. He took a train through Europe going east, then to Siberia through Russia, then to China, down to Vietnam and Cambodia. I had to visualize the world Atlas and think about that route. I can't believe that was even possible. He's been on the road since July and he's half way through his world tour. He's just a friendly and charming and awesome fellow. If we weren't heading in opposite directions in SE Asia I would have followed him!
We met up with Stephen and another girl from UK for dinner. I ordered fish and chips, expecting French fries with battered fish fillet. What I got was deep fried slices of fresh potatoes and one whole catch-of-the-day!
I guess that would be the real fish and chips! NICE.
