Hiroshima,
We went to the Atomic Bomb Dome here, and in fairness it was excellent. Among the most impressive stuff we saw there were the letters from Einstein to President Roosevelt. The A bomb cost 2 billion US dollars in 1945 to develop between R & D, construction etc,WOW! alot of dosh!!! The museum was very informative but its also very sad.
In Hiroshima there is a flame burning and it will continue to burn until all of the nuclear bombs in the world have been decommisioned.
The A bomb dome, as it is now known, is a structure that was formerly a commercial building. At the time of the bomb this building was at the hypocenter and everything around it was levelled by the bomb. Amazingly, the dome remains standing. This has been left in its post-bomb state as a constant reminder of the destruction these bombs can cause and it is a world heritage site now.
