We spent a few days in Cairns planning our onward trip to Asia. We stayed at Gilligans backpacker resort which is really nice we have to stay. The rooms are clean and there are very good facilities. The outdoor pool is probably the best so far, its lovely, however, it was raining here for most of our time so we didn`t get to avail of it, pity.

Also, we get free dinner every night at Rhino bar because we booked a tour with Peterpans travel agent, so that was cool. Spagitti Bolonagise every night though, so we never want to see another spag ball again, but can`t complain at all when its free eh!

This was a really good place to relax for a few days as well, there were loads of people we knew as its the same people travelling up the coast so you end up meeting the same people all the time. So it was really nice to see some familar faces.

We discovered that everyone ended up getting food poisoned from the Whitsunday sailing trip, what a pity as it was such a great trip. But it was a bit comforting for us to know that it wasn`t our salad that made us sick, because we are usually so good with getting decent food.

One thing we really noticed about Cairns was the amount of Aborginal people around. Another thing about Cairns is rough looking guys on the streets and in the pubs at mid-day (with bouncers on the door - rough!).

We decided to book a flight to Japan so this was our last stop in Oz.

O! one last things, there is a photo of a drive through off licence included on this entry. These were all over Oz and notice that there are 2 lanes one for looking and one for buying....lazy or what!
