Valentines day
Entry 68 of 91 | show all | print this entry |
We had a lovely valentines day, firstly with dinner on Circular quay, this was only our second dinner out in Australia (the first one was with Susan and Conor in Melbourne), so it was really nice. So we got a table with a view of the opera house and the harbour bridge, what a nice place.......After our romantic din dins, we headed to discover the Bondi Junction area of the city and low and behold we had a great night, we met Aoife and Roisin (Orla's friends from Knockraha) in the Tea Gardens. So it was a crazy night ending up in the Cock and Bull, WOW it is like Reardens in there, we met loads of Chem engers from the class behind us and a few other people from home, basically the place is full of "spud heads"....
15th Feb Today we went to Manly beach, really nice place, lots of people learning to surf. Definitely a perfect place to live if you were lucky enough. After that we went for a look around Watsons Bay, this is a really posh area of the city, a little bit out from the hustle and bustle and it has amazing views of the city skyline etc. We went for a walk around Doyles and Doyles the two restaurants side by side in Watsons Bay. That night we went back to the Cock and Bull and had another look at the place, to be honest it wasnt as good as the first night, but sure I suppose the novelty factor had worn off a little.
16th Feb Our last day in Sydney, what will we do??? It had to be a trip to Home and Away!!!! So we jumped on the bus to Palm Beach aka Summer Bay. We are so cheesey we know and still stuck in about 1992 but we couldnt help it and were excited all the way out there on the bus. It took about an hour and a half to get out there, so when they used to "go to the city" in Home and Away and then never come back it kinda made sense!! We made it anyway and we had our eyes peeled for superstars. We walked up along the beach and made it to the Surf Club, there above the door was the sign Manager; A Stewart, good ole Alf eh, he never let us down. We hung around the surf club like we always wanted to for about half an hour, unfortunately we didnt get to see any of our heroes and so we left and then got the bus "back to the city"!!!!!!!!!!
