5th Feb
Arrived in Sydney late enough, so just got checked into the hostel and went for a walk around. The next few days were spent seeing the city, we basically walked everwhere we could and as a result we got to know our way around the CBD of Sydney very well in few days. Unfortunately the weather was a little bit unusual in Sydney, it was raining a bit more than it usually does and as a result we would get one rainy day followed by 2 dry ones and so on, still it could have been a lot worse.
Some of the highlights of these few days were: the Opera House, in fairness it was every bit as impressive and eyecatching as we had anticipated. It was easy to just stare at it and be really impressed. We walked over the Sydney harbour bridge, we didnt climb it we just did the walk and that was really nice.  The area around Mrs Macquarie`s chair was really nice, and as we walked back into the city we saw the huge bats in their thousands flying through the sky. The size and the number of them is a bit freaky at first, we were thinking of Gotham city and horror movies, but we got used to them after a while. Hyde park in the middle of the city centre was a beautiful place aswell. We went out as far as Paramatta to see what life is like a little bit outside of the CBD.  We saw some interesting monuments in Sydney that came from Ireland such as the statue of  Queen Victoria that used to be in Dublin, and a piece of stone from  Blarney castle. We also went to the Paddys markets and China town area of the city. All in all we think we saw a lot of Sydney in our few days and in fairness what we saw we liked a lot.

After our few days in the CBD we decided we would like to move out to Bondi for a few days to see what the craic was like out there.
