2nd Feb
Saturday night at Base in St. Kilda was a great night out. We met loads of really nice Irish poeple and generally had a great time, dancing & chatting. Sunday was a bit of a write off! We went to the outdoor cinema in the Botanical Gardens, this was brilliant, the film we saw was Napolean Dynamite, it wasn`t the best film in the world, but the setting was perfect, with the Melbourne skyline in the background.

3rd Feb

Today we headed to see one of the most famous sights in Melbourne, THE G, ie the MCG. We strolled away out by the river on this beautiful day and it was lovely altogether. On the way we passed by the Australian Open tennis courts and we cursed our planning that we hadnt been here a week earlier and we could have gone to see a match. Ah well, not to  worry. So we made it to the G anyway and we got talking to the security guard, well to be honest he got talking to us, once as he found out we were Irish he tore into a story about the singer Phil Lynnot. This guy was obsessed with Phil and he proceeded to give us a 20 minute description about everything he knew about Phil Lynnot. Then we had our tour around the MCG, it was good to see the place. There was a cricket match on there England`s and Australia`s  women. After the tour the security guard collared us again for some more Phil Lynnot trivia, oh he was a gas man really.
We walked back along by the river and in around the city, there was a free open air rapping competition on so we hung around here for a while and took it handy.

4th Feb
Just went around St Kilda, the beach and esplande for the day. At about 4pm we met Susan, Orla`s friend from school. She collected us from St. Kilda and drove us to a cafe where we had delicious coffee and biscuits. Here we met her boyfriend Conor.  From here they brought us out to the Carlton football ground. We saw a team training and initially we were convinced we could see Setanta and Asaki but no it wasn`t - a pity, but great to see the grounds anyway. After this we were treated to top notch champagne in their apartment - nice and then we hit Beswich St. for drinks and treated to dinner at a Tapas bar - this was just great. We all had a cocktail to get us going, mojitos and caprinhinas - it brought us back to our Brazil days, these were all we drank in those days! We really enjoyed their company for the night and it was so great to meet them. Hopefully we can repay the compliment sometime.
