We hopped on the Kiwi experince bus to Milford, us with plastic bags over our dry socks to keep them dry from the wet boots!!! Meeting the bus worked out very well for us as we only had a half an hour journey to Milford and all along the way was amazing scenery, its impossible to describe it but it was huge mountains and we were really lucky that it rained the night before (well from this point of view!) as there were thousands of waterfalls running down the mountains. Its the waterfalls that really make it a great sight. The bus driver was great on the Kiwi Experience bus as he gave us lots of info and he said that the day before he was there and there were no waterfalls, good day for us
Before we could cross under the tunnel we had to wait, there were loads of alpine parrotts here. Cheeky birds they were, they would peck you and wreck your car if you were not careful.
We hopped on our cruise and had our buffet lunch, which we devoured like the starved animals that we were(carnivore galore for us) after our walk for the last day and a half, it was defo a case of the eyes being bigger than our bellys though.
The cruise in the fjords was lovely and the views amazing. Then we went to the underwater observatory, this was a real treat as well. This is a floating obervatory that goes about 10m deep in the water, that allows you to look at the sea life at this dept, really cool to see this. On the way back to the dock we saw some dolphins and they were very playful with the boat etc.
After this we boarded the bus for the 4 hour bus journey back to Queenstown leaving the giant mountains of Milford in the background. These 2 days were definetly the highlight of New Zealand for us, abosolutely AMAZING, but the weather made it to be honest.
Guess what we slept all the way back on the bus! Knackered but all revived to go out in Queenstown when we got back.
