Woke up to the best breakfast so far at the hostel in Sao Paulo, lots of fruit and even chocolate cake...amazing, we are definitely on holidays. The bus journey from Sao Paulo to Paraty was 6 hours, but the scenery of the Costa Verde along the way was amazing. There were lots of hairpin bends on the road here, it reminded us of the ring of Kerry, started feeling a bit dizzy from all the twisting and turning. It was well worth the journed here though, beautful Brazilian beaches, white sand and clear water is the order of the day. The town of Paraty is a beautiful old town, with cobble stone streets and white washed buildings. There are lots of people on push bikes and horse and cart, the mode of transport in the old town.

20th September,
Today was our first day of total relaxation, simply sitting on a Brazilian beach soaking up the sun, life is good. The main beach in the town is nice but it is definitely worth the 20min stroll to the nearby beach where the sand is mcuh nicer. We went to a fort where they used look out for pirates during the gold rush days in this area. From the fort there was a great view over the whole bay of Paraty. Ok so after our day of sun worshipping, we did get very burnt, so the night was spent feeling sorry for ourselves, nothing a few bottles of wine didnīt cure though!

21st September
We decided to take a boat trip today, where you can visit different beaches on the nearby islands, we think that the pictures tell the best story here of actually how beautiful the islands area. The boat trip was mighty craic. To start us off on a great day they gave us a few shouts of rum...so this got everyone merry at 11 in the morning. When the boat pulled into a beach, we could either swim the 100m to shore or take a dingy. As Orla wanted to take her camera with here to this remote beach, we decided to take the little dingy. However, our dungy ``captain`` decided to pull a few fancy moves and managed to capsize our dingy......sending us two and another Brazilian into the water. Then the mad panic to get to the beach to try to salvage our camera and gear. What a laugh, lucky enough everything was ok and the camera survived to tell the tale. We were getting enough attention at the fact we were the palest people on the boat with lots of sunburn (and people commenting on it in direct portuguese translation `ye are allergic to the sun`, the fact that we got knocked out of our dingy made us even more famous now! In all honesty, we had a great day with the Brazilians, there is mighty craic in them, the only pity was that we donīt have more Portuguese. From then on the day consisted of stopping off at remote islands, swimming, snorkling, sunbathing and enjoying the party atmosphere on this Brazilian boat.
