"I've traveled all over the world, but I don't think there is any place better than Texas."
                                    -Red Adair

We were so excited about our Road Scholar program (#14419)  in San Antonio mostly because we were participating along with our good friends, the Cooks and the Myers. We flew Southwest Airlines from Orlando with the Cooks and shared a cab from the airport to the Crockett Hotel. Our snowbird friends, the Myers, would be flying in from New York. Our room was fairly small and pretty basic but comfortable enough for the little time we will actually spend in it.

Christina and Della were our program coordinators for the week and seemed very nice---both friendly and enthusiastic. At 5 PM there was an orientation where we met up with the Myers for the first time. Hugs all around! There were 33 participants for the program---a far cry from the last Road Scholar program we attended in Natural Bridge, VA---only 7 people!  Introductions took a while, needless to say!

Dinner at 6 was a buffet and included wine---nice! After dinner our speaker was Dr. Hinojosa, a college professor who provided us some background for our field trips to the Alamo and Mission San Jose. He was very entertaining as well as knowledgeable.

Here is John in front of the Alamo. If you look closely you can see the Crockett Hotel sign in the right background.
