New Years in Calangute was a classic mayhem. The party in Goa, they say, is almost like in Ibiza. I'd say, more like in Guantanamo. A beautiful beach, lot's of booze and electronica, no women. Spending New Years on a beach packed full of drunk men is an experience of a lifetime you don't want to repeat. The few clubs in town that were maintaining a healthy gender balance were charging $75. Being self respecting backpackers and all - we didn't pay. Instead, we enjoyed the fireworks on the beach - an impressive display of fire power and lack of fire safety. Few hours after midnight and after Sean, and later Ish got into fights to descourage the overly aggressive display of affection directed at me by some locals, we retreated to a quieter bar on the sidelines. Then it was 6am. We had a last drink (and a quick nap) in a beach shack on the way to out hotel. When the sunrise fell to impress us, we walked on the beach with all the other overnighters, past all the sleeping beauties and into our hotel New Years Eve. Mob scene at Baga Beach, Goa.

. I've been sleeping ever since.

Jean and Ish, and Joel, who joined us for the New Years Eve, have left already. Sean is not moving before he figures out what he wants to do with his life. I recon he'll be buying a house here:) I have a flight to Singapore on Jan 10th.

I've had it with the sightseeing in India. There is a lot more to see of course, but I'm exhausted. I've seen a lot. I've had all the spicy food I can take. I've had enough of the 5:30 am train arrivals and the 8 hour-long buss rides. I'm staying put for a few days to catch up with sleep and emails. Maybe I'll go to Adjunta Caves in one last sightseeing effort, maybe I won't. This small vacation from my vacation is doing me good. I spend the days in the garden restaurant of my hotel and eat porridge. From time to time, I take a nap.

I finally feel the stress of city life completely washed away from my body and from my brains. I wake up in the morning and for first time in my life I feel no pressure to do anything. It is the beginning of a new day. This very day may end in a new town or just in the beach sunset I see from the terrace. It doesn't matter. I am free to do whatever my heard desires, and that is a sublime feeling.
