When the organized trip to Lhasa was over, most people left back to Kathmandu and I stayed for another week. I ventured to a few more monasteries in the vicinity of Lhasa and even overnighted in Samie monastery. The monastery was okay, but the real fun part was going back on a pilgrim bus with a bunch of friendly nomads whom I have been bumping into since Drak Yerpa monastery. I had taken photos of a couple of them in Drak Yerpa and given them the photos in Lhasa, so now the entire group of 9 guys and one lady with a little baby wanted a photo. Those were real characters. I never figured out what was their association despite my numerous attempts. It is very difficult to find an English speaker in Tibet. I think the lady was no wife of any of them, although they all were helping her with the baby.

The guys sang almost all the way back to Lhasa. These were real pure souls from some land far and away Samie Monastry

. The sight of an airplane produced a spectacular reaction. They all piled up on one side of the bus, so to take a better look. When we got to Lhasa we all went together to the print shop, so I can print the pictures. That's when I noticed that they didn't have backpacks. They were carrying their belongings wrapped in yak blankets. Even though they were doing all the pilgrim sights (just like me, btw:) they didn't strike me as particularly religious. It looked like they were having a super fun field trip, except, they were age 30-50.
