Chilling in Kathmandu

I'm taking a bit of a rest in Kathmandu before I head out to Everest Base Camp in couple of days.
The temperature here dropped for a day, so not having a blow drier was a bummer. The guy at the reception said they can't help me, but perhaps I can go to a Beauty Salon...so I did. I had my hair blow dried for $1.3 (one US dollar and 30 cents). I think she did a great job! I was also getting a bit bored, so I hired a teacher. Now I'm taking Nepalese Language classes 4 hours a day. My Guru Madhy Lama is cracking me up. I'm hopeless student, but learned few helpful fraises like - No thanks (for the pot dealers) and Leave me alone (for everybody else). I also know how to say "Hello, how are you?", so now all the guys that work in the hotel are my friendsJ

So happy for you! (reply) Oct 22, 2007 08:40 EST by mackrenner
Vicky, it is great to see that you are doing well and in the middle of a fantastic trip. I'm so jealous but also so thrilled for you. I will follow your travels and hope that they someday bring you back to Oklahoma. By the way, Mandie and I have a young son, Will, who is almost two. Our second is due in May 2008. Matt Sisk is also a new father. Can you believe it!?
