Although I've never been to Cancun, I imagine Sunny Beach to be just like it-- a beach town overrun with the debauchery and hedonism of bright lights, long strips, and heavy teenage boozing.  In this spirit, the two of us went out dancing for Militza's birthday.

Walking home in the middle of the night (technically morning-- clubs in Europe tend start around the time I'd be coming home from one in Boston), we had to cut through some dark alleys behind the looming hotels.  Soon, we were being followed by a stray dog.  He ran ip to us, muzzled my leg, then trotted ahead.  He checked out every dark corner and odd smell before turning back to us, giving us the go-ahead to walk on.  He only bristled once, upon finding two drunken strangers, but allowed us through once he made sure they were more interested in each other than in harming us.  The dog followed us through our hotel gate, into the open door of our building, and up the stairs, depositing us safely at our hotel room door.  It was like a doggy escort service, and this dog was so loyal! Such a gentleman! So concerned with our safety and protection!

I've always been a cat person, but after tonight... I really want a dog!

"Walking home in the middle of the night ... we had to cut through some dark alleys ... drunk" Not as bad of a lapse in judgment as the hike, but..
