Paradise didn't come easy though. Right after Florence we went to Naples, but with a stopover in Rome. We had to wait five hours in Rome for the station to open back up so we could get on the first train out of there to Naples.
Right when we got there we picked up this American guy who was so grateful to have a group of people to stick with through the night that he payed for our food. I'm really glad I asked him to join us while we waited.
The four of us stuck together and watched each others backs
Anyways, after several more harrowing, heart-pumping and exciting experiences we made it to Naples. We saw Pompeii and even met, by pure coincidence, Canadian Mike, his sister and Miss Pink, while wandering the ruins of Pompeii.
We ate lots of pizza, watched our backs like crazy, and left for Corfu. It was another adventure actually trying to make it there. The fact that we cannot speak Italian and the chaotic Italian rail system made it very difficult just to get from one side of the penninsula to the other.
At one station the message boards on each platform showed incorrect times and even the incorrect train. We arrived at 4 o clock and all of the trains were listed as leaving during the 2 o clock hour! We finally made it on a train to Bari, met some American girls who were going to Corfu too and followed them to Brindisi instead of Bari, where we were originally headed. Once there we took a long trek to their hostel.
When we got there I felt like Dante after he had trekked through Hell and Pergutory and finally arrived in Heaven. We stumbled upon an outdoor party where we were given Vodka to drink and the hostel owner hooked us up with a cut rate deal on a speedboat to Corfu the next day
Once in Corfu it was basically "spring break" time, only with Canadians. There is a toga party on Saturday and a booze cruise the next day. It is, as Justen and Mike put it, "a vacation from our vacation."
P.S. - MTV is here so I might be on TV! Then again isn't MTV always around? ('Sorority Life' at Davis)
