27/12/11 – Starting to feel better already, I ventured out of the bungalow and tried to sweat out the illness on the beach. A tough place to convalesce, and Abi was more than happy to accompany me.
28/11/12 – After the blissful tranquillity of Sihanoukville for so long, we prised ourselves away and moved onwards. Having only a single night to spare in Phnom Penh, we flew round the main attractions. This is from the Killing Fields, a sombre place showing the unparalleled, brutal efficiency of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime. The memorial tower displayed victims’ skulls arranged in order of age. Horrific.
29/12/11 – Bangkok, again. We flew here from Phnom Penh and left swiftly on the night train down to the Thai Islands. Back on Khoa San Road once again, the first place we stayed on our trip, it was bizarre to be back again.
30/12/11 – Finally we had arrived in Koh Tao, a small island in Southern Thailand. It was good to be back in the land of sumptuous green and red curries.
31/12/11 – Hogmanay, and what better way to bring the curtain down on 2011 than head over to the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan. We chilled out by day at the accommodation of our kiwi friends, preparing for the madness awaiting us on the beach, 40,000 people plus partying the night away.
1/1/12 – HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 2012 was upon us, and it was nice to welcome the new year in with the most polite toilet I have ever seen. In Asia the sewage systems can’t handle toilet paper, but it was nice to be asked in such a gracious manner.
2/1/12 – Back on Koh Tao after having been stranged on Koh Phangan for an extra day, unfortunately the weather was hideous. A monstrous tropical downpour deluged us for pretty much 48 hours, confining us to our accommodation. This was taken looking out the room we stayed in in our diving resort.
