Our intention is to approach the day with a very leisurely attitude. Morning coffee, drawn out breakfast of string hoppers and potato curry. Then a stroll down the beach.
Soon our stroll turns into a walk. Then the walk begins to resemble a trek. One hour in and it's high noon. The sun is beating down on us with furious anger. Sweat pours down our backs and across our brows. The sand burns our feet forcing us to stay at the oceans edge.
Off in the distance we spot an oasis. One that serves cool refreshing drinks and offers shade from the scorching sun. The sign outside reads Sandy's Resturant and Cabanas (a tad serendipitous) so we venture in
Felling our strength return, we decide to venture further afield in search of some lunch. The Ocean View Cafe has decent food at very reasonable prices. Most importantly the beer mugs are chilled! We (I) search out the shadiest table in the ocean side cafe and pray for a cool breeze.
Lunch complete we pack up our gear and hop into a tuk tuk for the return jurney home, where we chill out on the beach and catch up on doing nothing.
As we make our way back to the cabanas and prepare for dinner we greet our local roommates. The monitor lizard that forages for food outside our rooms, the snake that lives in the thatch roof of our cabana and the scorpions that guard our bathroom. One big happy family.
The dinner of grilled calamari and deviled fish is accompanied by some very spicy chili condiments, which Connie and I devour. The wine is flowing freely and dinner conversation is lively as we discuss the appropriate usage of various forms of punctuation. Note to self, you know your worries have melted away when punctuation become the hot topic at dinner.
