Show trip route
We rode the southern tip of Macedonia south towards Greece. A big surprise was the gradual and long uphill of the ride south. The views were spectacular: Gradeska Mountains to the west, Belasica Mts. to the east, and lots of lush and fertile farm land in between.
The folks we ran into were all very friendly, noticable after some cold shoulder/indifference in Bulgaria. Lots of people have rooms for rent at a cheap price in their homes, ´´zimmer´´ style.
In Novi Dojran we stayed at a home and watched a t.v. show that featured performances by Macedonian trannies, fell asleep with the t.v. on and woke up to the loud pop of the t.v. exploding, cooked on the range top in the kitchen!, and watched a boy paint his headset shut as he proudly detailed his bike.
We could see the Greek border across the lake from Macedonia. Fields and filed sof wild, red poppies.
