we landed, safely off the ferry. feeling very ill, woozy, but happy to be on solid ground. it's hard to shake that sea sick feeling sometimes. we head to make some lunch and get energized.
in front of the supermarket we're shocked to see our old tarifa pal -cesar- with his dogs canella and gordo. and oh no, a very baby lamb with a bow around it's neck. he's spare changing and not having very happy holidays. sad. things are going weirdly the first few hours in spain, and the sea sick feeling was holding on. the next day anna and kurt had fevers. well it turns out we had caught the bug, a flu, a last kick in the but from morocco.
good thing we had decided to head to a great campsite with hot showers, privacy, and no party atmosphere. so we rest and re cooperate. while at the campsite we finally got to use a laundry machine, really exciting... 4 months of hand washing finally hits a real washing machine. everything clean and de-grimed. we met some really nice, active, caring, curious folks named trevor and janet. instantly because of trevors intrigue in bicycle tour-ers they became our campsite friends and health caretakers. they were enjoying tarifa for it's warm weather and beautiful mountain biking. i should mention we all thought they were really cool because of their ageless attitude towards life and living it. and they have the juiciest 'how we met' story i've ever heard.
we stayed at this camp spot until the new year's day. happy 2007. since we were all sick, asides from seeing some fireworks, sleep was our 'new year's eve party'. the day we rode out of tarifa was sick-ish and slow. we had a great campspot though. a state park amidst cork trees with a view of the 'rock' -gibraltar. we drank mint tea and enjoyed a moonlit night.
