A very expensive lunch

The guidebooks sing the praises of Nautika, a restaurant overlooking the small harbor just north of the walls of the old city. We'd looked at the menu for the Business Lunch special several times. It looked great, and at a price of 44 kroner (five for a dollar) it looked like quite a bargain, too. We'd heard the dinners were delicious, but pricey.
So in we wandered with three kids in tow. They gave us a lovely table under an umbrella out of the terrace, a hundred feet above the sparkling Adriatic. The sun was bright, the air fresh. The food was delicious, one of the best meals we've eaten on the trip. "We should eat here every day," Amy said.
The bill came. We were expecting about 350 kroner, say $70, after adding three bottles of water and two glasses of house wine each. What we got was a bill for just over 2,000 kroner. Shock, questions, and clarification followed.
The lunch was not 44 kroner, but 44 euro. About a ten-to-one difference. Very clearly stated on the menu, but we saw what we wanted to see. So we had a very nice $400 lunch, and we now understand why everyone else looked to be on an expense account. Afterwards, Amy walked a mile to the supermarket, and came back with boxes of cereal and a week's worth of pasta and sauce. Now that we've blown our weekly food budget, we're back to basics for the next four days.
