In some ways, it feels the trip is entering a new phase now.  When we arrived in the beautiful city of Bergen yesterday, it became apparent that we will now be operating outside of our English-speaking comfort zone for much of the next several months.  I forgot how disorienting it is to not be able to understand a sign or newspaper, and this in a country where virtually everyone speaks impecable English.  The Norwegian people are very friendly and kind, and many of them seem to genuinely enjoy children.  Bergen is quite scenic-- many multi-colored houses built up the side of the mountains overlooking the water.  The weather was a bit of a shock, however.  The kids and I have been walking around in shorts in the chilly rain.  I've noticed several people looking at my legs, and as much as I'd like to think they are bowled over by the definition, I'm sure they're just thinking that I should have read a forecast and packed pants for my family.  We board the ship in an hour, and I can't wait to see the fjords that the Monty Python parrot keeps pining for.
