We spent a short day in Milan - just a few hour train layover. We went to their church named the Duomo (same name as the Florence one). This was a really cool Gothic-style church. It took almost six centuries to complete, and is the 5th largest cathedral in the world. The inside was super tall with huge columns, and it was all hazy with insence. We took an elevator to the top roof of the church. Soph tried a cool way of taking pictures by taking them through her sunglasses. These pictures looked awesome on the church. I tried though my sunglasses too, which were more pinkish than Soph's.
Later we just decided to walk around Milan. It is basically the fashion capital of the world. Most of the designer stores are made there. There were tons of those stores as we walked down the street, but what I noticed was that everyone had Zara shopping bags. Everyone! I hadn't ever seen a Zara store, nor had I even heard of the brand. So we went on a Zara hunt until we found the store that so many people seemed to love. It ended up having cute clothes, but didn't seem very special to me. I guess one difference from the rest of the stores was that the prices were less expensive. My mom ended up getting a pair of yellow pants and she said she felt "in place" as she walked with her Zara bag like tons of other people. Other people must have wanted to find it just like us, because one lady actually asked me where Zara was.
Later we hopped back on the train on the way to Monaco.
