. There were only a few pigeons and hardly any people in the square. Even with the cold and the rain that day, I still consider Venice one of my favorite cities. We were only there for a short time, but I just loved everything about it. All of the shops either sold blown glass or masks. Some masks were cool, but most were creepy. They were like the masks people wore to balls back then. They just seemed to stare out of us from the shop windows. And the blown glass was beautiful. I think pretty much all of it was Murano glass. The Murano glass comes from the island of Murano, which is right nearby the island we were. It's the biggest glass-blowing place in the world. I got lots of blown glass things. In the United States, everything would have probably costed 15x more than what I got them for.
There were several old buildings in Venice, something else I love about it. Lots of them were by St. Mark's square. There were beautiful churches, buildings with lots of columns, and also where there was ground, it was mostly brick or stone. I just like Venice a lot. I don't know when, but I will definitely be coming back there.
We stopped in Venice on the last full day of our cruise. Venice is a place I'd wanted to go to, so it was pretty exciting. My mom has already been there and she loves it. We only had a few hours there. I wish we had more time, maybe a few days, but we got to see some of Venice anyways. We walked around the whole time. After going there, I would definitely consider it one of my favorite cities. The streets are literally water. Instead of cars, there are boats. I love it! There are bridges everywhere to get over the streets. Where there isn't a water street, there's a small alley. We walked down these, crossed river roads and found little shops while we were in Venice. I don't think there was a single car. There's no place to drive, anyways. The biggest walking area is St. Mark's square. My mom said that in the summer, it is warm, there are pigeons and people in the square, music is playing, and it just has a nice lively vibe. We were in the winter, it was cold, and I forgot to mention, it started raining
