The air was full of smoke from the wildland fire north of us so we headed out on the Grand Loop stopping first at the West Thumb thermal pools.  The colors were amazing.  Several Elk were around while we checked out each new pool.  We then headed to Old Faithful where we were lucky enough to get there 40 minutes before the expected eruption so we ate lunch in the RV.  The eruption is neat to see and we all enjoyed it.  We headed north on the loop passing too many spots to mention.  Each one was fantastic in their own right.  The scariest driving was to Tower Fall north of the Canyons.  For about 14 miles each way, the curves were tight and the grade was very steep.  For about five miles there is no guard rails and no shoulder to speak of plunging 60-100 feet.  My hands were sweating so much I had to hold the steering wheel in different locations so I wouldn't slip.  I hiked down to the bottom of the fall which allowed the brakes to cool and my heart to stop pounding.  The trip back was a little better as some of the hairy sections kept us on the inside portion of the road.  All I can say is WOW.
