Where I stayed
camping Torre de la Pena 2
We made good time from Seville, must have been the Elvis we listened to on route, always makes me speedier!! On arrival we put up the awning as it is now pretty hot, this was more challenging than usual as the strait of Gibraltar is famous for it's wind!! After a spot of lunch we popped down to the beach. We were very surprised when we got down there as it was full of bodies!! The first busy beach we've seen! These bodies were all bronze and young and all had kite surfing gear... a very cool place!! We stayed for a little while to watch the kite surfers and wind surfers and we also found a nice big pool for Poppy to play in, but the reason the kite surfers congregate here is the wind! It whipped the sand around our legs and exfoliated all of us! We decided to head back to the camp site's lovely pool and do a little bit of chilling (surely one can't do enough chilling?) and then had a very healthy (not) pizza for tea!The next day we popped along to check out what was in Tarifa town. We found lots of cool
surf shops with expensive clothes and jewellery and of course many bars and cafés! Being a Monday the castle was closed so we decided to hop on a boat and go dolphin spotting in the Strait of Gibraltar. The best place for dolphin and whale spotting is where the Atlantic meets the Med as this is where there is lots of lovely food for them to eat. What a brilliant afternoon! We saw loads of dolphins! Huge amazing bottle nosed dolphins. We watched them for ages jumping gracefully in and out of the water and they took great pleasure in splashing us!
