Having survived another rather long drive we arrived in the beautiful city of San Francisco - completely covered in fog.  We were to later learn that San Fran is completely covered in fog for 90 days a year - we just happened to be lucky enough to visit on such days.

So even though we couldn't see much that didn't keep us from having a good time.  Found a lovely bar on level 42 of the Hilton which offered rather nice views over part of the city but still none of the Golden Gate.  Went to Pier 39 for dinner and a mooch around.  Tried to see the seals but twas the wrong time of year so instead of there being hundreds there were a mere 6 or so.   Oh well. Ended up at an Irish bar of all places - it had free pool so we weren't to complain.  The boys befriended some locals and ended up being introduced to beer pong - a very cool game indeed After the bar closed one of the patrons said "right party back at my place" so we all look at each other, hailed a cab and headed on to her house for a wee house party.  Ended up being a rather nice bunch of people so stayed there until about 3am or so.

Next day we went on a day long bike ride (starting at 10am).  Had we had a premonition of the house party I think this would have been postponed but we powered on through and had a most enjoyable ride across the Golden Gate Bridge (still not seeing a thing due to fog) then onto a gorgeous little place across the bay called Sausalito.

After catching a ferry past Alcatraz and back to San Fran we continued on our bikes to see the world's most crooked street.  In order to get to this street we had to go up Hyde Street which is San Fran's steepest and seen in most movies.  Bree and I made it about 10m before we had to get off and walk but Oliver steamed ahead and rode up the whole entire bloody thing. The street is MASSIVE and steep steep steep - Bree and I
had to stop a few times walking because we were out of breath.  We were passing people going "oh my god looking at that guy go!".  We assured them he was mentally deranged.  Once at the top we found a dying Oliver hahahaa.  The ride down was definitely a lot more fun.

After dropping off the bikes we headed on out for a tour of Alcatraz.    Just amazing - a must do for anyone who goes to San Fran.  Really incredible that a place so well known and formidable was actually only used as a prison for a mere 30 years.

So that bought us to the end of San Fran.  Next day we were up very bright and early as had a tedious 10 hr drive through Death Valley back to Vegas.  Tom and Ben caught a plane the lucky things!
