Whilst Oliver seems somewhat recovered from pootomouth others in the truck have fallen, especially poor Rach who was up most the night and feeling terrible today - not what you want on a drive day. Needless to say she is up on the beach with Josh trying to get some shut eye.
Got up at 7.30 and had a freezing cold shower... one way to ensure waking up. Having packed up the tent the day before it was nice just having to pack bags into locker and enjoy breakfast which were divine lime sugar pancakes expertly flipped by master chef Luke.
After bar bills were paid... Kristy's being a staggering EURO 100 for 45 grand beers - good effort girl, it was back on the road which felt quite strange after such a long layover... 8 days I think we were at Bandiagara for... the longest we've stayed anywhere since starting back on 9 Nov. It did however involved the Dogon Trek so for some it was only 2 nights then 4 nights but still a lovely break.
Drive today is taking us to our 5th country of Burkina Faso - fabulous name for a country I think. Ended up driving back through Djiguibombo where we stared our Dogon Trek before stopping off for lunch......
Boarder crossing didn't take too long, except for no mans land which was about 50km. Oddly enough there were people living in no mans land, the first of which we've seen. I have to wonder which laws govern the goings on there, if in fact there are any.
Entering Burkina Faso we're met by the same friendly people although markedly more reserved than those in Mali. Here they tend to wait for you to make the first move before breaking into smiles and waves.
For a country consistently ranking in the bottom 10 poorest it's remarkably developed with sealed roads, power lines, shops a plenty and fancy cars. You have to wonder if its just along the main artery or if development of the same level follows the back roads.
We bush camped that night... not entirely sure where as writing this in 2009.
