Originally booked to stay in St Johann we were told on arrival that the hotel had actually triple booked (easy mistake to make I'm sure) so we would be relocated to the more upmarket town of Kitzbuhel... sounds good to me.

So were piled in another car and whisked off to the beautiful town of Kitzbuhel where the buildings look like brightly painted gingerbread houses with marshmallow snow capped mountains tower in the distance.  Very very pretty place to say the least.

Had met 3 others in the taxi ride from Salzburg - Christine, Macca and Jonesy (yes all Australian) so after checking into the hotel and going for a wonder we all met up for beers and lunch - the first of many.

That night set the scene for the next 5 nights... total carnage and that was just the meet and greet night!  Had a pre meet back in St Johann with some of the other people on the tour... another 20 or so who were all moving up to Kitzbuhel the next day.  Flugels were introduced and became the drink of the week (vodka red bull shot type thing).

My girlfriend Mel joined us the next day so was great to see her - Bree, her and I managing to catch up over huge pizzas in the square whilst watching a wedding.

It was a really well run tour fitting in loads of stuff.  Went and had a traditional pork knuckle and stein in some cute little Austrian eatery.  Returned to the Augustiner Brewery in Salzburg that Oliver, Bree and I had sat playing cards at.  Went to a restaurant bar high up behind mountains for traditional flare, had a party night in a hall with two top deck buses and a band.  Us girls buying about 5 bottles of champers for the festivities.  Needless to say combined with beer, flugals, jager and god knows what else I was feeling sufficiently hungover the next day!!

In no time at all Saturday had come around and it was time to head off to Germany for the opening day of Oktoberfest. Woo hooo!
