Today was supposed to be the camel safari and the highlight of the trip. However I fell violently sick with traveler's sickness. It is not a surprised that I fell sick because in the many places that we've visited so far, the sanitation has been poor. Livestock roam the streets and shit at will and nobody bothers to clean it up. Under these conditions and coming from an extremely sanitized society in comparison it wasn't "if" I was going to be sick but a matter of "when".

I had to skip the camel safari which bummed me out immensely. However being nauseated and feverish did not make it ideal for me to do a 6 hour safari on a camel. Gita and Samir went ahead and I stayed in bed the whole day. I felt so shitty that I could barely move or think. However I think this was a wise choice as I HAD to recover. I had an MD interview at Georgetown in couple of days and I could not afford to miss it. I needed to recover!

As of right now I think the worst is over. After drugging myself with a cocktail of Cipro, Immodium, and Advil I feel that the worst is over. I feel sick still but much better compared to earlier. This trip had been super stressful and I think the day off was much needed. We still had an early and long day to reach the airport tomorrow to fly back to Delhi. While I'm still supremely bummed about missing the safari, I guess I will just have to look at Samir and Gita's photos.

Finally I have to say that I am really looking forward to going back to civilization at this point. Shanghai sounds pretty great right now...
