We left Nong Khai on Monday and headed for Buriram.  Just a little aside,  Nong Khai is a great place, we stayed near the river and market.  Old hotel, cheap and handy.  People were friendly, found great streetfood, (Isan style)meaning lots of barbeque.  Had a new riverwalk that was very nice, wide and clean.  A good place to relax for a few days.  Another aside.  Our van driver is the best driver in all of Thailand.  He is very calm, never gets into situations that are dangerous and really looks after us well.  He has made this whole trip very relaxing and enjoyable.
He also treats his van like a baby, we never stop to eat or take a break without him getting out a rag and wiping off any bugs or stray dirt that may have got on the outside of the van.
Anyway, we hit the road about 10a.m, and arrived in Buri Ram around 5pm.  Saw lots of rice fields, most everything is hand planted, but saw combines harvesting.  All the combines are on tracks, not wheels and have about 5 ft headers.  Of course most of the fields are less than one acre, so they fit well.
Everyone was overjoyed to see us at the village.  Phungs' Mom (Jueng)Dad(Yael)sister(Toy)niece(May)and nephew(Min).  We stayed at the Erawan Resort about 5KM from the house.  We have stayed there in the past.
Nice rooms, TV, AC, $13/night.  Of course Jueng had made supper for us when we got there, barbequed beef and pork, nam prik(a not chilli dip)pork curry, and lots of unidentifiable vegetables.  Great supper!  We did a couple of small tours around the area and loafed a lot.  On Tuesday, the family went swimming in the afternoon at a pool in town, and I had the afternoon off at the hotel, read and watched TV;, nice to be by myself for a while.
Tuesday night the boys camped out of town, Kim, MM, Jess and I ate downtown and were going for outdoor massages, but a rainstorm cancelled so had an early evening.  Buriram has restored a lot of it's ancient moat and made a really nice walk and shop area in the old downtown area.  We ate at the night market there a couple of nights, besides Jueng, Toy, and Phung cooking another night.  I had the best homemade sausage ever in SangKhla, and have been looking for more like it ever since, with no luck. Wednesday we headed back to Bangkok.
