THE End of the CRUISE

I awoke at 5.  Michael had the TV on to the channel where you can see from the prow of the ship.
"We docked at 4:30" he said " I could feel it"
And indeed we had.  About 5:30 I headed to the Front Office to see if we could disembark even earlier.  Since we had not put our bags out the night before, we could leave with the "Independent Traveler" group at 7:15 to 7:30.  Not good.  I wanted to make a 9:05 flight on Continental, if we could.

We showered, finished packing and visited with Carol and Bob (waking them to boot!) before we headed down to the Atrium Bar area with our bags to wait.  At 6:45 I noticed someone walking ashore, so I went down to the security people on A deck and asked if we could go ashore now.  They said yes.  Others were already gathering their bags to do the same.  So off we went, each carrying 4 bags ( yes, I said 4 bags) and to the taxi stand.  Whoosh and we were in a taxi and on our way to the airport.  Zip Zip and we were checked in, not just on our flight to Newark on Continental, but on to Cleveland too!  And surprisingly, there were others form the ship as well.

It happened so fast, the next thing I knew we were on the plane and taking off, in coach no less!  I wrote awhile, Michael watched TV.  We ate lunch, I watched a movie and napped.  It went by pretty fast, and Michael did really well with the turbulence.  We got on our flight to Cleveland by the skin of our teeth, and were in Cleveland by 4, home by 5 and the cocktail hour.

But the time difference did not sit well with me. We were both in bed fast asleep by 8:30, with only souvenir t-shirts and our memories (and a few photo's) to remind of where we had been.
