ARHUS ( pronounced: Ar-ôose)
A glorious morning greeted us once again. But there were things to check on and bills to look over. We got our first summary of our on board account this morning. Not bad for a 20 day cruise. Michaels was a bit more than mine, but then he bought a little more than I did, and treated both of us to Spa access and treatments.
We had told Carol and Bob that we wanted to take it easy this morning, me especially did not want to have to get up and run right away. But we were up, showered, dressed and coffee'd by 9ish, much to Carol chagrin. When we showed up at the Front Office to look for Michaels glasses (he seemed to have lost them, and the last time we had seen them was the night before on the sea view pool area where we had played cards), Carol was waiting in line to find out about some discrepancies about their bill.
She was not exactly pleased to see us, since we had said (me in particular) that we wanted a later start. She looked at us and said I was unreliable about what time we wanted to go and such, that she wasn't ready and all
He smiled sheepishly and said he had also gone back to the cabin and looked once again. They had turned up in his polar fleece. LOL... If he would ONLY listen to me! So, all the drama aside, we headed shore. Bob and Carol headed off on their own, and Michael and I headed off to the University. Michael is intrigued by Universities. After a LONG walk, and an explination that he had thought we would find a café with internet there, we headed back towards the old part of the city. The walk was nice, and the University was beautiful (lots of green space and a cool amphitheater) and we arrived back along the canal around oneish. We walked along, passing numerous café's and shops, enjoying the warm sun and the ambiance. Denmark is a very cool place
The shop is lovely, white, pristine, soothing. Nice jazzy music played softly, the canal outside the window and people walking by. We ordered "afternoon tea" and were treated to White Jasmine tea, and a three tier tray of quiche, sandwiched, scones with cream and jam, a lovely almond cake and blueberry muffins. It was lovely. We must have sat there two hours enjoying tea, talking and catching up on the internet with listings to get home, e-mail, and such.
It was a great and relaxing time. The young lady working the counter was the owners daughter. We discovered her mom had opened the shop just over a month earlier. The web site is www.simplytea.dk and is worth the visit, either to the web site or to the shop on your next visit to Denmark. Michael and I wish them great luck.
We called Bob and Carol (mobile phones are great for keeping in touch on trips like this, expensive, but convenient) to see if they wanted to join us, but they had already finished with their walking about and were heading back to the ship.
Michael and I walked along some more, taking in the atmosphere and enjoying the day before heading back to the ship
What a game ensued as Michael and Carol were determined to beat Bob and I. I have come up with a pretty good way to shuffle 5 decks of cards, so they were getting mixed very well. At 8:10, we left a note with the cards and table saying we would be back after dinner to resume the game, we weren't even ˝ way through!
The Lamb chops were lovely. I don't know why I hadn't ordered them before. And we opened not only the bottle of red I had been drinking the last few nights at dinner, but the white we had gotten as an apology from the hotel staff for the really bad piano bar player disturbing our sleep. Michael is a light weight, and he didn't want to see it go to waste, so he drank a lot of the white before I caught on and slowed him down. We were both comfortable as dinner ended and we returned to the game. Spirited game playing continued until finally Bob and I ceded the game. It was getting late, and they had won! There was still some packing to do, and sleep to be had before we docked in the morning.
The last night is always sad, the fun and pampering you have enjoyed is about to come to an end. And there is packing to do as well. [SIGH] Tomorrow would come too early!

Michael tells us what there is to see....
. I explained that even though we were dressed, and I had my 'puter over my shoulder, we weren't ready, not having eaten breakfast or found Michaels glasses yet. So much for 'being easy going" and "going with the flow" as she professes to be. It was quickly remedied, and Carol went up to the desk with Michael, who asked if his glasses had turned up. They had not, so we went over the events of the previous evening, and where he may have left them while Carol remedied their bill. When I asked him if he had left them in his polar fleece jacket, he said no, they were not there. I sent him to the Sea View bar to ask, and they had not turned up there either, but he had returned with them stuck in the collar of his t-shirt. He smiled sheepishly and said he had also gone back to the cabin and looked once again. They had turned up in his polar fleece. LOL... If he would ONLY listen to me! A the University
. I saw a sign for an internet site across the canal, so we headed that way and never found the one associated with the sign. Instead we found a delightful tea room and shop called "Simply Tea". We noticed two young women using their computer, and after asking the clerk, discovered there was free internet access. Pondering another direction
. It was almost over. We would be disembarking tomorrow and on our way home. And there was packing to do. Once aboard, we arranged to meet Carol and Bob for cards at 7, packed some and then dressed for dinner. We were heading to the Atrium Bar to meet up with the "Friends of Dorothy" group for cocktails at 6:30. A quick cocktail, some cheerful conversation and we were off to meet Carol and Bob for cards and dinner. What a game ensued as Michael and Carol were determined to beat Bob and I.
