One of the reserach exclosures near the nursery needed to be burned, and extra pairs of hands were needed for timings and beating the fire. So along we all went with An and her crew. They were the experts, and we merely helped save the surrounding grass, while Sipho set fire, Geoff timed the event, and the snakes started to make a break for it - except it was all a big rouse. They were skinks of course, but interesting all the same. So much so that I held it, but not tightly enough, and off it went into the cool green grass, while we went home for a beer.
